Abstract

BANDA GALLEGO, Trinidad. Spanish Educational Institutions Specialized in Social Work. Trab. soc. [online]. 2017, n.19, pp.137-157. ISSN 2256-5493.

The article presents a historical overview of the establishment and evolution of Social Work studies in Spain, as well as of the schools specializing in those studies. These institutions were created by the Church and other organizations that supported the Franco regime. To that effect, the paper also provides a brief context of Spain during that period. The article also discusses the importance and impact of Social Work studies once they were officially recognized and later included at the university level. Finally, the paper offers a few reflections on the adaptation of those studies to the European Higher Education Area.
