Abstract

LOPEZ-GARCIA, Irene María  and  SEVILLA BRENES, Laura. Educational Innovation for the Preparation of Social Workers in a Spanish University. Trab. soc. [online]. 2018, vol.20, n.2, pp.95-116. ISSN 2256-5493.  https://doi.org/10.15446/ts.v20n2.74307.

The article describes an educational innovation project for the preparation of students seeking a degree in Social Work. The initiative included active learning methodologies in the classroom, online resources, and direct contact with the population, in order to assess the contributions of social policy in guaranteeing food for the population of children in three neighborhoods. The combination of research, action, and reflection demonstrated that it is possible to design a comprehensive exercise of the profession. This experience responds to the challenges of training social workers in today's society, professionals capable of dealing with contexts of crisis in which the dynamics of inequality, poverty, and exclusion are especially severe.

Keywords : critical; educational innovation; knowledge; learning-service; professional action; reflexive social work.
