Abstract
BARRERA CASTELLANOS, Johan Arturo and FUQUENE SALAS, Jeny Paola. "I Also Turn Tricks!". Realities of Male Sexual Work in Bogotá D. C. Trab. soc. [online]. 2018, vol.20, n.2, pp.157-175. ISSN 2256-5493. https://doi.org/10.15446/ts.v20n2.74310.
The article carries out a reflection on male sexual work and its modalities in Bogotá. On the basis of a qualitative research exercise guided by the tenets of social constructionism, it seeks to show the diverse dynamics of the social phenomenon, according to the voices of the actors who engage in this economic activity. State interventions, as well as those of civil society organizations, are based on assumptions that have little to do with the reality of this population. Consequently, assistance is feminized and shows scarce knowledge of the incentives and risks involved in male prostitution.
Keywords : economic activity; homosocialization; intervention in male prostitution; male sexual work; modalities of prostitution; status.
