Spinal anaesthesia-induced hypotension in pregnant patients undergoing caesarean section is this anaesthetic technique´s most common side-effect and is associated with adverse maternal and foetal outcomes. This document provides a descriptive review highlighting this condition´s frequency, pathophysiology, clinical importance, definition, prophylactic and therapeutic treatment. Anaesthesiologists involved in maternity care should be aware of the significance, implications and therapeutic approach to hypotension which may result in maternal-foetal pair morbidity and mortality.
