Abstract
BENITES DE MORAES, Paulo Eduardo and DE CAMPOS MACIEL, Josemar. War Poetry in the Poetics of Manoel de Barros. Lit. teor. hist. crit. [online]. 2020, vol.22, n.1, pp.179-194. Epub Apr 13, 2020. ISSN 0123-5931. https://doi.org/10.15446/lthc.v22n1.82296.
As Murilo Marcondes de Moura states, war poetry can be considered an authentic genre of the first half of the 20th century. Manoel de Barros' Face Imóvel, published in 1942, can be read within the tradition deriving from war poetry. In this sense, it is a work that confronts history by entering into dialogue with poets writing between 1940 and 1950. In this dialogue with tradition, his approach to the poetics of Mario de Andrade and Oswald de Andrade, in their most socially engaged works, and of Carlos Drummond de Andrade, in A rosa do povo (1945) stands out.
Keywords : war poetry; Manoel de Barros; Brazilian poetry; tradition.
