Abstract

JURADO VALENCIA, Fabio. Between Aesthetics and Semiotics: The Works of Jarmila Jandova and Marina Kuzmina. Lit. teor. hist. crit. [online]. 2020, vol.22, n.1, pp.309-319.  Epub Apr 13, 2020. ISSN 0123-5931.  https://doi.org/10.15446/lthc.v22n1.82415.

The fundamental characteristic of academic communities is pluralism and heterodoxy. Thanks to those who contradict us, we can make progress in long-term research projects. Such is the case of the works of Jarmila Jandova and Marina Kuzmina, who, along different paths, inculcated in their students the episteme of the theoretical positions they defend: aesthetics linked to semiotics in the case of Jandova, and social and emotional aesthetics in that of Kuzmina. The article analyzes the authors' thought on the basis of their translations. Kuzmina's approach to the work of Vladimir Losev, one of whose books she translated, invites us to discuss the relations between poetry and myth. Jandova, on the other hand, translated some of Jan Mukarovsky's articles for two books, which shed light on the semiotic singularities of the work of art.

Keywords : aesthetics; Losev; Mukarovsky; poetry; semiotics.
