Abstract

CUADRA PALMA, Lorena Natalia  and  RESTREPO QUINTERO, Katherine. The mutation of the Chilean corporate habitus based on two metaphors for female leadership. Rev. Cient. Gen. José María Córdova [online]. 2020, vol.18, n.30, pp.461-476.  Epub Dec 05, 2020. ISSN 1900-6586.  https://doi.org/10.21830/19006586.592.

This article addresses the gap in women's access to senior leadership positions. In the case of Chile, this is an issue that still requires development. A document search of academic, business documents, and government and non-government sources, from the theoretical approach of Bourdieu's notion of habitus, evidenced promising changes in this regard, which have been consolidated based on the metaphors of a glass ceiling and a labyrinth. Although these metaphors have emerged to show gender inequities in language, they have ultimately helped to increase the symbolic capital of women who hold these positions, as the Chilean corporate habitus has translated their cultural and social capital into economic capital.

Keywords : entrepreneurial habitus; gender equity; glass ceiling; leadership; social capital; women's participation.
