Abstract
REYES VELASCO, Miguel Fernando; RODRIGUEZ OREJUELA, Augusto and GALVEZ ALBARRACIN, Edgar Julián. Effect of managers' attitude towards risk in the export orientation of companies. An empirical study in Colombia. Cuad. Adm. [online]. 2015, vol.28, n.50, pp.91-112. ISSN 0120-3592.
This paper presents the research conducted with 308 exporting companies in Colombia seeking to answer the question: how does the attitude of managers towards risk (ATR) influence the export market orientation of companies (EMO)? For this purpose, traditional export and Born Global organizations were analyzed using linear regressions as the statistical method. The results show that these companies have an average level of both ATR and EMO, and that the first variable positively and very significantly affects the latter. It is concluded that when managers take more risks the organizations are more oriented towards external markets. Future research could review this relationship in the so-called world-class sectors of Colombia and other developing countries.
