Abstract

QUICENO-OSORIO, Juan David. Person as Being in Relation from the Perspective of Romano Guardini's Welt und Person. Cuest. teol. [online]. 2019, vol.46, n.106, pp.351-378. ISSN 0120-131X.  https://doi.org/10.18566/cueteo.v46n106.a07.

The daily experience of being before others leads to the following question of clear judgement: Why, though being similar to the rest of human beings, do I experience myself as radically different? In our perspective, answering this question involves a relation between philosophy and theology. The article follows the ideas of Romano Guardini in his work Welt und Person to reach a formal and partial answer to the mystery of the uniqueness of being person. On the one hand, the article contrasts the insights of Guardini to some contemporary views that reduce person to what is strictly natural; on the other, it aims at complementing his insights with the ideas of other academics who address the issue of person, which makes it possible to better appreciate the reach of Guardini's ideas.

Keywords : Person; Nature; Uniqueness; Romano Guardini; Relational Being.
