Abstract
VANEGAS USECHE, ISIDRO. "A Man Descended Directly from Heaven". Royal Power in the History of New Granada. Anu. colomb. hist. soc. cult. [online]. 2019, vol.46, n.1, pp.123-148. ISSN 0120-2456. https://doi.org/10.15446/achsc.v46n1.75555.
The article inquires into the place of the king in society towards the end of the Viceroyalty of New Granada and during the revolutionary period, contrary to the idea that became deeply entrenched since the revolution in New Granada, according to which that society had taken shape apart from royal power. First of all, the article shows the importance of the king in the history of New Granada and attempts to understand why his centrality was denied. Secondly, it studies the significance of the monarch and the nature of his power before the 1810 revolution. Finally, it examines the manner in which the relation to the king was transformed starting with the revolution.
