Abstract
RODRIGUEZ RODRIGUEZ, Christian Camilo and FORERO UMANA, Diana Paola. Informal work in public space from a human rights perspective. Prolegómenos [online]. 2022, vol.25, n.50, pp.65-80. Epub Mar 24, 2023. ISSN 0121-182X. https://doi.org/10.18359/prole.5833.
Currently, informal work is essential for analyzing and reflecting on a problematic situation when people working in public spaces face relevant challenges to legitimize their rights. Therefore, this article is inserted in this framework, whose objective is to delimit the conditions of informal vendors in the historic center of Chiquinquirá, Boyacá (Colombia), made visible as a social phenomenon that must be addressed for their recognition as people with the right to work and to the use and enjoyment of public space. Methodologically, it corresponds to qualitative research with a case study approach that uses the interview to obtain information; the analysis was developed through a logical and coherent process that established the significance of the investigated reality. The main finding is that informal traders need to be treated or recognized as subjects with the right to work in a context that does not provide them with conditions to live and develop their capabilities and life projects individually and as a family.
Keywords : minimum vital rights; human rights; public space; informal work; informal vendors.
