Abstract

UMBARILA-CASTIBLANCO, Ximena  and  CARDENAS-SALGADO, Fidel Antonio. The i4c Strategy: A Didactic Strategy for Developing Thinking Skills and Learning Chemistry. Rev. Fac. Cienc. Tecnol. [online]. 2023, n.53, pp.275-292.  Epub Jan 01, 2023. ISSN 0121-3814.  https://doi.org/10.17227/ted.num53-13085.

This article reports the partial results of an application of the 3P model and the I4C strategy in the context of Constructive Alignment (AC). It was the objective of the application to develop thinking skills and improve the learning of the concepts of solution and limit reagents in a secondary school group of students. These students belonged to the Colegio de Bachillerato Patria (CBP) in Bogota. Analysis of the results shows that the AC, the 3P model, and the I4C didactic strategy are potentially useful to foster teaching in the classroom aiming at developing thinking skills and improving quality learning of scientific concepts. Based on the I4C strategy, the student develops thought operations such as identifying, comparing, communicating, and quantifying applicable in different fields of chemistry and natural sciences in general. Because these are partial results; new systematic experiences will be welcome to deeply develop the field of active didactics in science education.

Keywords : I4C strategy; the 3P model; thinking skills; chemical concepts.
