Objective:

Analyze how public policies, teachers and doctors approached hygiene in schools and its impact on regional education. A study of the period from 1934 to 1952 was carried out on school hygiene in Baja California in the context of political and social transformations.

Originality/contribution:

While Mexican historiography has explored school hygiene at the national level, this study stands out for its regional focus, filling a research gap.

Method:

Adopting a qualitative approach, a review of official documents, secondary sources and possible testimonials was used.

Information Gathering/Strategies:

The research drew on government files, health and education reports, as well as contemporary testimonies to build a detailed picture.

Conclusions:

School hygiene policies in Baja California not only reflected national guidelines, but also regional particularities. These policies reveal the interaction of education and public health in a context of rapid demographic development and social transformation, underscoring the need for regional approaches in historical studies of Mexico.
