Abstract

DA FONSECA SANTOS OLIVEIRA, Rubia et al. Factors associated with the risk of prostate cancer. Rev. salud pública [online]. 2022, vol.24, n.5, 7.  Epub Sep 01, 2022. ISSN 0124-0064.  https://doi.org/10.15446/rsap.v24n5.81296.

Objective

To analyze the factors associated with prostate cancer risk.

Method

The study consists of an integrative review, covering the years 2008 to 2018, in articles that have as main theme prostate cancer and risk factors, conducted in the Virtual Health Library (VHL) portal database, and in the bases of Latin American and Caribbean Literature (LILACS), Nursing Database (BDENF).

Results

After pre-reading and selective reading, 11 articles were selected.

Conclusions

The approach of men during nursing consultations is of fundamental importance in identifying risk factors, signs, and symptoms of possible changes, with the aim of early screening and diagnosis of prostate neoplasms. This approach can help to reduce the mortality of a population that historically does not have the habit of seeking health services, and can help to increase the incidence of diseases and health issues.
