Abstract
VERDENELLI, Juliana. Uses of Creativity in the Daily Life of Dancing Mothers in Buenos Aires. Rev. colomb. antropol. [online]. 2024, vol.60, n.1, pp.150-173. Epub Jan 01, 2024. ISSN 0486-6525. https://doi.org/10.22380/2539472x.2586.
In this paper, I seek to delimit certain tactics and specific uses of creativity as I was able to research them during an ethnographic investigation about how tango and contemporary dancers strike a balance between work life and motherhood in Buenos Aires, Argentina. During the fieldwork conducted between 2014 and 2020 I found that the dance practices of these women from urban middle sectors were furrowed by other creative acts, such as the organization and combination of schedules inside and outside the home, the deployment of new skills and reflexivities linked to the maternal experience or the tactical occupation of dance spaces. It is concluded that these uses of creativity allowed these women to try out other ways of articulation between the different spheres of their daily lives and to put into practice a processual and relational sense of creativity that values its bodily and experiential aspects.
