SEGUEL-PALMA, Fredy Andrés; VALENZUELA-SUAZO, Sandra and SANHUEZA-ALVARADO, Olivia. The Positivist Epistemológica! Trend and its Influence on the Generation of Knowledge in Nursing. Aquichan [online]. 2012, vol.12, n.2, pp.160-168. ISSN 1657-5997.
Paradigms are multiple movements in philosophical thought and ways of searching for the truth that conflict with prevailing ideologies. Among these paradigms, positivism and post positivism are oriented towards methodological research that has prevailed over other forms of investigation by identifying reality in an objective and empirical way. The purpose of this study is to describe the historical evolution of the contemporary positivist paradigm as an important hallmark in methodological strategies for research on nursing and as relates to the categorization paradigm that characterized the early stages of the evolution of the discipline.
