DURGANTE, Helen; NAVARIE E SA, Caroline and DALBOSCO DELL'AGLIO, Débora. Positive Psychology Program for Health Promotion of Retirees: Feasibility Study. Av. Psicol. Latinoam. [online]. 2019, vol.37, n.2, pp.269-281. ISSN 1794-4724. https://doi.org/10.12804/revistas.urosario.edu.co/apl/a.6375.
Studies on health promotion of retirees through the development of strengths and virtues demand broadened empirical investigation in Brazil, given their relevance to the fields of active and positive aging. The aim of this study was to evaluate the feasibility of a Positive Psychology program for health promotion of retirees, based on the following criteria: Demand, acceptability, implementation, evaluation of the moderator (social skills and integrity/fidelity), adherence, dose, satisfaction with the program and with the moderator, comprehension/ generalization of content, and program implementation. Eleven retirees (age range 54-75 years) from the metropolitan region of Porto Alegre-RS-Brazil took part in the program. The instruments used were admission questionnaire, moderator field diary, observers' evaluation form, and program evaluation form. We observed high demand (N = 55), satisfaction with the program and with the moderator, adherence, and retention rate. We introduced structural changes and removed certain items from questionnaires and evaluation forms. The obtained results were satisfactory and allowed to progress to the efficacy trial of the program.
