Abstract
NAVARRO DIAZ, Luis Ricardo. A look at the institutions of san basilio de Palenque (Colombia) through the assumptions of Douglass C. North and Thorstein Veblen. rev. econ. Caribe [online]. 2012, n.9, pp.162-200. ISSN 2011-2106.
This paper provides a review of the institutions of the town San Basilio de Palenque located in the department of Bolivar in northern Colombia, based on the postulates of Douglass C. North andThorstein Veblen. The objective is to deliver an approach to the discourse of institutional economics, which involves examining the various social, economic, cultural, political, and other interactions of the subjects in this population to communities in development and change, and the various entities that are implementing projects with objectives designed from the social sciences. The analysis suggests the possibility of an approach from an institutional economics perspective to social dynamics, reflections which in turn could contribute to improving the quality of community projects, optimizing the environment and building participatory processes-communication citizens. The article takes the idea across the complex network of social relations among the agents, which can probably be divergent or convergent.
