Abstract

This paper presents the economic valuation made by tourists visiting the beaches of the city of Santa Marta. Its based on econometric model calculations using the travel cost method, which is used to estímate economic use values of ecosystems. Research shows that the average daily cost in the bay is $ 42,969.67, also found that 47% of tourists considered dumping rain water must be eradicated from the bay because causes a reduction of 8,4% of visits to this beach.The time spent on the beaches was highly significant for the number of visits. Visitor revenues are not independent of the level of education, but not significant substitution effect was found.
