Abstract
RESTREPO BETANCUR, LUIS FERNANDO. Perception of telestudy by university students in the city of Medellin (Colombia). Zona prox. [online]. 2023, n.39, pp.147-167. Epub Feb 19, 2024. ISSN 2145-9444. https://doi.org/10.14482/zp.39.345.951.
Tele-study has become the best educational alternative in times of Covid-19, since it allows for remote interaction between teachers and students through the use of computer systems. The objective of the present investigation was to describe and compare the perception of university students in the city of Medellin, Colombia, in relation to virtual education in times of Covid-19. Non-random sampling was used, where the sample size was 2,400 university students, taking into account the same degree of weighting between genders and types of university. The questions were made based on a survey structured on the Likert scale, which was validated by item analysis, measuring reliability by Cronbach's Alpha technique. The statistical techniques used in the investigative process were: factor analysis and multivariate analysis of variance. As outstanding results, highly significant differences (p<0.0001) between genders and between types of universities were detected, referring to the opinion of the current educational situation, when all the variables were jointly evaluated by means of the MANOVA technique. It is concluded that the tele-study allowed the student to self-define as a critical being, with a greater degree of autonomy and responsibility in the different activities that are proposed by the teachers, in the same way the academic performance has been improved according to the opinion of the students surveyed. Among the difficulties there have been internet connection problems, mainly in people enrolled in state universities.
