Abstract
MORENO CUESTA, Jorge David and ROBLES, Nathaly Andrea. The dilemma of motivation within the Colombian National Police. Rev. logos cienc. tecnol. [online]. 2024, vol.16, n.1, pp.129-143. Epub Feb 18, 2024. ISSN 2145-594X. https://doi.org/10.22335/rlct.v16i1.1845.
This article aims to delineate the social representation of motivation among the members of the Colombian National Police. Therefore, it uses the mixed approach based on the authors’ autoethnography, the documentary review of various theories of motivation, the regulations of the National Police of Colombia and other entities regarding incentives for police officers, the statistics of the sanctions imposed on the uniformed officers from 2010 to 2019 by the General Inspectorate of the National Police (INSGE, 2020) and the statistics regarding the educational level of all police officers for the year 2022. As a result, the social representation of motivation among members of the National Police is supported by reports and behaviours extracted from research on the subject in Colombia as well as statistics. Following this approach, it can be concluded that there is no variable, model or parameter to establish a course of action for the institution to achieve the happiness, conformism or loyalty of all its members.
