This paper reviews the main developments in the field of criminology in Colombia at the beginning the third decade of the twenty-first century. It raises a set of organizational, epistemological, methodological, and theoretical issues to discuss the most significant challenges concerning the consolidation and continuity of current advances, and identifies new emerging complexities in this field, as well as possible strategies to deal with them. To this end, historical, analytical, and dialectical methods are used. The main findings indicate concomitant and substantial progress in the development of a theoretical corpus, as well as in the production of new knowledge based on socio-legal, historical, empirical, and documentary research. Simultaneously, it also confirms the presence of visible gaps, potholes, and neglected areas in the field of criminological thought and research in present-day Colombia. Its main contribution lies in identifying key limitations and deficiencies and outlining possible ways forward concerning these issues.
