: Phase diagrams are the graphical representation of a systems thermodynamic equilibrium and allow the prediction of the present phases and their proportions for a set of specified conditions. In this work its thermodynamic foundation is stated and the ideal solution model is used to obtain solid-liquid equilibrium diagrams for some binary systems utilizing thermodynamical data existing in technical literature. This model, though simple, allows a good approximation to some systems, and in general its a useful tool when there is scarcity of experimental data. Equilibrium diagrams are very useful in engineering practice although in practice few systems show ideal behavior because it requires great similarity between components.
