Abstract

Superconducting thick films of YBa2Cu3O7-δ (YBCO) (≥ 1 μm thick) were deposited on single crystal MgO (100) and Ni%5W metallic substrates using the Dip-Coating method and thereafter heat treated by a Melt - Annealing process. Critical temperatures (Tc) of the films were approximately 89K and the critical current densities (Jc) around 2x104 A/cm2 at 77 K. All the samples displayed a granular morphology and a crystalline structure which correspond with that of the polycrystalline YBCO (123) as determined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (DRX) respectively.
