Abstract

The Geological and Paleontological Heritage is constituted by goods common to all citizens; these goods are part of the natural wealth of the nation and are transcendental in many cases for the definition and understanding of the history and dynamics of planet Earth. The selection of the Places of Geological Interest - LIGs (Geotopos and Geosites), for each category; scientific, didactic and tourist-symbolic, is done by scoring each of the parameters according to different scoring scales, according to the methodological proposal made by the Colombian Geological Service (SGC). The Media Luna sector (ML), located in the Municipality of Aipe - Huila, has geological characteristics that make it representative to recognize geological processes that have occurred in this region of the country; its assessment will allow to define if this place can be proposed as geological Heritage and additionally, integrate the values within the framework for Geoparks proposed by UNESCO.
