Abstract
GARCIANDIA, José Antonio and SAMPER, Jeannette. Therapeutic Conversation and the Construction of an Ethnia. rev.colomb.psiquiatr. [online]. 2004, vol.33, n.1, pp.21-44. ISSN 0034-7450.
The purpose of this article is to share some of the beliefs and practices that stand out when a therapeutic relationship is built in a Latin-American culture, after taking into account in our conversations the differences in social class, race, education and ethnicity that exist between therapist and consultant and that are evident from the start. The problems lived by our consultants show an ample spectrum of cultural and social beliefs, symbols and family myths, that have become twined in the evolution of the problem. So we explore the problems of our consultants in the light of their particular history and culture and we show the participation of close ones, with their myths and the discourses and practices of the environs that give meaning to their successes and failures.
Keywords : construction; therapeutic ethnia; conversation.
