Abstract
VELASQUEZ, Juliana M.; MARTINEZ, David E. and JARAMILLO, Luis Eduardo. Severe Hypotension and Bradycardia Secondary to a Single Oral Dose of Olanzapine. rev.colomb.psiquiatr. [online]. 2011, vol.40, n.1, pp.164-169. ISSN 0034-7450.
Introduction: This is a case report of a 27-year-old man with a diagnosis of schizophrenia, who developed hypotension and bradycardia immediately after the administration of a single oral dose of 10 mg of olanzapine. Discussion: The patient had no medical history and no history of adverse reactions to medicines. He required hospitalization, reanimation with crystalloids, and IV atropine to achieve hemodynamic recovery. The patient later was treated with haloperidol with adequate recovery and without suffering new adverse effects. Only one case has been reported of hypotension or bradycardia associated with the administration of oral olanzapine.
