Citation of articles in scientific production is an important quality indicator as demonstrated in the first moments of the article. Subsequently, the analysis of the citation in the doctoral theses in pedagogy of the University of Matanzas in the period from 2017 to 2019 is addressed through the use of the documentary analysis method. The results obtained are organized in the form of tables and graphs that allow illustrating the difficulties found in the theses. Subsequently, the results obtained with other investigations are compared.
