Abstract
SOUZA, Ney de and REUBERSON FERREIRA, MSC. The contributions of the Brazilian Episcopate at the III General Conference of the Latin American Episcopate in Puebla (1979). Franciscanum [online]. 2020, vol.62, n.173, pp.6-6. Epub Feb 03, 2021. ISSN 0120-1468. https://doi.org/10.21500/01201468.4136.
The relationship between the Brazilian Episcopate and the III General Conference of the Latin American Episcopate held in late January and early February 1979 in Puebla de Los Angeles is what this article intends to present. Indicate which and who were the Bishops of Brazil who participated in Puebla and in what respects their presence was relevant and in what respects they contributed. Such collaboration will be externalized in two strands. On the one hand, the contribution of the Bishops of Brazil as a National Episcopal Conference; On the other, the personal collaboration of prelates, especially Aloísio Lorscheider and Luciano Mendes de Almeida, who, either by their natural leadership in the Latin American episcopate or by their ecclesiological options and testimonies, profoundly influenced the positions taken in the Final Document.
Keywords : Puebla; Bishops of Brazil; Contribution; III General Conference of the Latin American Episcopate; Latin American episcopate.
