Abstract

BUSILACCHI, Héctor Abel et al. Weather conditions incidence on development and production of Salvia hispánica L. sedes. Acta Agron. [online]. 2019, vol.68, n.3, pp.244-250. ISSN 0120-2812.  https://doi.org/10.15446/acag.v68n3.68759.

The aim of the research was to analyze environmental conditions incidence on Salvia hispanica L. during 2014 and 2015 crop years at the Humid Pampa core zone. Sowing was made in a 2 ha plot of the Experimental Camp at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences (FCA) of the Nacional University of Rosario (UNR), placed in Zavalla, Santa Fe, Argentina. Seeds used came from commercial crops grown in the province of Salta, Argentina. Parameters evaluated in both 2014 and 2015 crop years were: plant height, number of spikes per plant, weight of 1000 seeds and germinative power. Crop development was not affected by frost. During 2014 crop year, the great amount of rain and low temperatures allowed a higher incidence of Sclerotinia sclerotiorum. These conditions caused a lower number of spikes per plant (15,9) and weight of 1000 seeds (0,904 g) than 2015 crop year (77,8 spikes/ plant and 1,297 g weight of 1000 seeds). In 2014 crop year, empty seeds and a lower germinative power seeds was observed. Climatic conditions during S. hispanica culture cycle in the Humid Pampa’s zone directly affected the crop development and also quality and production of harvested fruits.
