Abstract
GARCIA MARQUEZ, Mario Javier and GARCIA CORZO, Carlos Miguel. Náusea y vómito secundarios a la limpieza peritoneal en cesárea bajo anestesia subaracnoidea. Eficacia de la asociación fentanyl-midazolam. Ensayo Clínico Controlado. Rev. colomb. anestesiol. [online]. 2007, vol.35, n.1, pp.29-35. ISSN 0120-3347.
Objectives: To evaluae the efficiency of applying fentanyl and midazolam with the purpose of reducing the incidence of nausea and vomiting, as a consequence to the cleaning of the peritoneal cavity in patients undergoing cesarean section, under subaracnoid anesthesia. Results were analyzed under binomial regression. Methodos: Clinical assay controlled and triple blinded in patients undergoing cesarean section under spinal anesthesia. Fifty mcg o fentanyl plus one mg of midazolam were administered to 163 patients through intravenous means. On the other end 164 patients received aline solution as a placebo when the hysterorraphy was terminated. Results: The application of fentanyl and midazolam reduced by 8.45 (IC95% 3.07-23.27) times, the probability of presenting nausea. These differences are still present even after adjusting for the other possible explanations to the phenomenon (IC95% 2.91-21.92). The uterus exposition also implies a risk towards developing nausea of 2.33 (IC95% 1.29-2.44) times. A significant reduction in the vomit incidence, pain and dyspnea, without an increase of the frequency of itchiness, shakes, discomfort and hypoxemia was found as well. Conclusions: Providing patients with 50 mcg of fentanuyl plus 1 mg of midazolam simultaneously through intravenous means, at the termination of the hysterorraphy, reduce the incidence of nausea and vomiting as a consequence to the manipulation of the peritoneum during the cleaning of the abdominal cavity without an increase of secondary effects.
