Abstract The article presents the results of a study of bilingualism and contact languages aimed at characterizing the linguistic and identity attitudes of a group of speakers of Creole English, Standard English, and Spanish, using a case study and life story methodology. Eight life stories gathered on the basis of interviews were analyzed using the ATLAS.ti program. Findings show ambiguous attitudes regarding Creole and positive attitudes toward English and Spanish. These attitudes are the result of factors such as education, family, and media. The article carries out a reflection on elements such as educational diglossia, linguistic prestige, and code changes in the above-mentioned languages, hoping to contribute to the field of contact languages and Creole studies given that the study of linguistic attitudes is fundamental for the preservation and vitality of minority languages.
