Abstract

OBJECTIVE: To identify and characterize the social representations of interventions for drug use in a university context. METHODOLOGY we assumed a theoretical model based on symbolic interactionism, ethnography, textual interpretation and analysis. Were conducted 27 semi-structured interviews and 7 focus groups. Was applied as a technique of analysis, reading paradigm proposed by the cutting culturalist anthropological hermeneutics. RESULTS: Evidence of intervention as the solution to a problem, where the prohibitionist paradigm becomes important as a structure of meaning. Displayed education as social representation and valid alternative to intervene psychoactive drug. CONCLUSION: a proposal for intervention related to drug use must meet the following elements: participation, multidisciplinary, comprehensiveness, sensitivity, purposeful dialogism, the psychosocial, pedagogy, research, education and regulation.
