Abstract

ACEVEDO, Diana María  and  PRADA DUSSAN, Maximiliano. Thinking Life: Crisis of the Humanities and the Philosophical Praxis. Rev. colomb. educ. [online]. 2017, n.72, pp.15-37. ISSN 0120-3916.

This article proposes a way of understanding the so-called crisis of the humanities in the specific topic of the current presence of philosophy in the Colombian education and research system. We suggest that the version of the crisis presented here depends on the technification of philosophy. As a technique, philosophy receives legitimacy from the efficiency as instrument to achieve the objectives assigned to it. We question this technical way of legitimizing philosophy, and instead we explore an alternative model, supported by the notion of praxis, from the perspective of philosophy as a way of life. From this perspective, we argue that understanding philosophy as praxis enables a close relationship between knowledge and life, while keeping it from becoming instrumental. Finally, we approach writing as a field of action in philosophy that allows concrete people to reflect about themselves, their interests, histories and communities of meaning.

Keywords : Writing; philosophy as a way of life; education; research.
