Abstract

URIBE BOTERO, Ángela. EL REQUERIMIENTO EN EL NUEVO REINO DE GRANADA: DOS FORMAS DE SER DEL MAL MORAL*. Prax. filos. [online]. 2006, n.23, pp.5-20. ISSN 0120-4688.

The purpose of this article is to show that two of the paradigms of evil most known in the history of morals are not exclusive. Taking account of the judgment made by Bartolomé de Las Casas about the requirement, the first part of the article emphasizes in the possibility of explaining the origin of evil through the platonic paradigm of ignorance. In the second part, and considering Las Casas description of the way the conquerors applied the requirement, a second source of evil is described, that is, the one which according to Aristotle, takes place in an agent's incontinent disposition.

Keywords : Plato; Aristotle; Bartolomé de Las Casas; Conquest of America; moral evil; akrasia; "requerimiento".
