Abstract

VASKES SANTCHES, Irina. The aesthetic axiomatic: Schizoanalysis and rhizome . Prax. filos. [online]. 2008, n.27, pp.245-268. ISSN 0120-4688.

This article is aimed at two concepts: schizoanalysis and rhizome introduced by G. Deleuze and F. Guattari. It"s goal is to show that both concepts constitute the categorial apparatus of postmodern aesthetics, and provide a new conceptual tool to describe the processes occurring in present artistic practices frequently announced as the crisis of representation questioning the "narrative" modernity and its categoric imperatives. It is argued that these concepts possess similar and interchangeable characteristics, one complementing another, because both reflect a new type of relations between modern art and reality; they are not lineal, no structuralized, antihierarchic, heterogenic, etc., in other words, they are "rhizomatic" relations based on the "cartographic" principle, different from "arborescent" relations in which classic art resides, where "calque procedures" predominate.

Keywords : schizoanalysis; rhizome; crisis of representation; postmodern aesthetics.
