Abstract

VASKES SANTCHES, Irina. The Postmodern Aesthetics of Frederick Jameson: Pastiche and Schizophrenia. Prax. filos. [online]. 2011, n.33, pp.53-74. ISSN 0120-4688.

This work is conceptually framed within the postmodern aesthetics of Frederick Jameson. After highlighting the new characteristics that the aesthetic and artistic experience acquires in its postmodern stage, emphasis is placed on the analysis of the concepts of pastiche and schizophrenia as two of the most important distinctions of the postmodern sensibility. This analysis has a twofold goal. On the one hand, as a "conceptual tool" it clarifies the situation of art in its "postmodern condition", explaining and justifying the changes it has undergone during the last decades. On the other hand, it contributes to a better comprehension of the phenomenon of postmodernism, presented by Jameson as a cultural logic of late capitalism.

Keywords : pastiche; schizophrenia; art; aesthetics; postmodernism.
