Abstract

TOMASINI BASSOLS, Alejandro. Reasons and causes: Wittgenstein versus Davidson. Prax. filos. [online]. 2016, n.43, pp.13-36. ISSN 0120-4688.

In this paper I critically examine Davidson's view according to which reasons are causes of action and I contrast it with the one which flows from Wittgenstein's grammatical analyses aiming at showing that such a view is just absurd. I show, on the one hand, that Davidson's stance is grounded on a variety of conceptual misapprehensions and, on the other hand, I emphasize the genuine clarifying character of Wittgenstein's remarks
