Abstract

EXPOSITO, Julia. Going Through Capital’s Dialectics. Marx’s Encounter with The Method in a Practical State. Prax. filos. [online]. 2021, n.52, pp.99-118.  Epub Apr 13, 2021. ISSN 0120-4688.  https://doi.org/10.25100/pfilosofica.v0i52.10665.

Dialectics and capitalism in Marx’s thinking are inextricably linked. The specificity of Marxist dialectic would be that the praxis constitutes both its material and theoretical foundation, through the display of a practical problem: capitalism. Therefore, dialectics would not be a method to be applied but something to be discovered in capital’s temporalities and resistances. The aim of this article is to illustrate how the determinants of capitalism that Marx formulates -for example, the relation value/labor- presuppose dialectic’s categories -totality, contradiction, negativity, objectivity- in the own development of capital’s logic, in order to demonstrate how social becoming, far from answering to the logic of a necessary unfolding, would rely, in fact, upon an enigmatic contingency.

Keywords : Dialectics; Capital; Method; Capitalism; Totality.
