Abstract

NUNEZ, Angélica. The Museum as a Space for Mediation: The Language of Museum Exhibitions. univ.humanist. [online]. 2007, n.63, pp.181-202. ISSN 0120-4807.

Museum exhibitions are a strong medium and play an important role in society. The reasons are their communicative nature, thematic flexibility and capacity to connect with diverse groups of people. These qualities allow museums to act as effective agents of mediation, where disciplinary borders are crossed in achievement of a common objective: to develop identities of different sectors of society. This paper explores the qualities of museum exhibitions as a dialogue and mediation place in Colombian society.

Keywords : museum exhibition; objects; cross disciplinary; mediation; dialogue.
