Objective. To evaluate oriented physical exercises utility in the postpartum period by the obstetrician nurse. Methodology. Bibliographic research of national and international publications and information research in the Health Virtual Library BIREME of Brazil, and the Sao José do Rio Preto Faculty of Medicine- FAMERP library. Results. Literature analysis showed that obstetrician nurses guide pregnant women about physical exercises recommended for them, contributing to puerperal mothers’ integral care. They also provide education in self care, prevention and early detection of complications. It helps to improve their quality of life and body image. Conclusion. Physical exercises practice during the puerperium can be guided by the obstetrician nurse and it should be included among the integral care interventions to women during the gravidic-puerperal cycle.
