Abstract

Objective:
To evaluate and carry out anthropometric follow-up of children of mothers with gestational diabetes. Barranquilla, from January 2015 to December 2016.
Materials and methods:
Descriptive longitudinal prospective study, in products from mothers with gestational diabetes, with follow-up in the Vida Saludable program, children up to 5 years of age; Sample was taken for convenience; evaluation is performed in three different sections, at 12 months, at 3 and 5 years of age; the results obtained in the first evaluation are presented. Epi Info 7.0 software was used for tabulation of information.
Results:
The sex distribution showed a higher prevalence of male patients with 66%; with an average of 27.7 ± 7.1 months; 94% of the patients presented but at birth between 2500 and 4000 gr, 4% weight less than 2500 gr and 2% weight superior to 4000 gr, with a mean of 3153.2 ± 482.2 gr.
Conclusions:
According to weight/age 62% of the population was between -1 and 1 (adequate weight), 20% below -1, while 18% above 1; size / age showed that 60% were between -1 and 1 (adequate size), 26% below -1 and 12% above 1; the body mass index (BMI) showed that 54% were between -1 and 1 (adequate), 22% between 1 and 2 (overweight), 14% between -1 and -2 (risk), 6% 2 (obesity) and 4% (underweight).
