Abstract

ARISMENDI GOMEZ, Fabio Alberto  and  COLORADO LOPEZ, Doris. CONTRIBUTIONS OF LINGUISTIC BIOGRAPHIES TO PRE-SERVICE FOREIGN LANGUAGE TEACHER TRAINING IN COLOMBIA. Linguist.lit. [online]. 2023, n.84, pp.11-39.  Epub Nov 27, 2023. ISSN 0120-5587.  https://doi.org/10.17533/udea.lyl.n84a01.

This article reports some findings of a qualitative study about the use of linguistic biographies in pre-service foreign language teacher training in Colombia. A corpus of 122 linguistic biographies written between 2011 and 2020 was analyzed. Findings reveal the complexity and heterogeneity of future teachers’ linguistic repertoires; various situations of linguistic contact and learning trajectories; as well as representations, affections and feelings towards languages. Linguistic biographies prove to be a tool to develop reflexivity, mainly regarding plurilingualism and interculturality.

Keywords : linguistic biography; pre-service teacher training; plurilingualism; foreign language teaching; linguistic repertoires.
