Editorial Note

Jaime Alvarado Bestene, MD. (1)

(1) Editor- Director

Received: 19-06-12 Accepted: 25-06-12

I must admit that I was surprised when I received the request from the president of the Colombian Association of Gastroenterology to take over as editor of the Colombian Review of Gastroenterology. Nevertheless, I had no doubt that it was my duty to accept. As a member who has received all manner of honors possible from this association, there could be no other answer, so I have assumed a new honor that forces me to devote all my efforts to a new task.

The wide acceptance of my name by the editorial committee and the positive response from my predecessor, who has agreed to be part of this team with other illustrious colleagues, make it much easier to undertake this work enthusiastically.

The magazine will continue to be what members of associations responsible for studying the digestive tract want it to be. Moreover, this administration hopes to be able to count on submission of your research papers, case reports, expert opinions, controversies and letters to the editor. Finally, we would like to be able to count on your collaborations in whatever ways each of you deems relevant.

Our recent reclassification in Publindex-Colciencias, 2011 has brought us back to category A2. This allows us to plan improvements, some of which have already been initiated. These include the addition of five new doctors to the scientific committee and updating the Curriculum Vitae of each member of the team in search of a higher category in the next assessment of the magazine.

The journal's editorial standards and well-defined processes will not be modified. Changes will be made only if we detect possibilities for improving processes. Only time will tell whether we do the job well.
