Abstract
PENA BALLESTEROS, Dario Yesid; ESTUPINAN DURAN, Hugo Armando; MORENO JAIMES, Ana María and SOTO GAMBOA, Diana Carolina. Corrosion behavior of Pb-Sn-Ca-Ag alloy in a sulfuric acid electrolyte. Rev. Fac. ing. [online]. 2013, vol.22, n.35, pp.101-112. ISSN 0121-1129.
In this work, a Pb-Ca-Sn-Ag alloy, used in the automobile battery grids manufacture was evaluated. Specifically, the temperature at 25, 35 and 45 °C effect, together with the immersion time, in 0.5 M sulfuric acid at 0,7 and 30 days, carried out by an electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. According the results, it was obtained the corrosion rate behavior. Additionally, with the XRD and SEM evidence, it was possible to conduct the corrosion products formed during the immersion in acid process' analysis. The results showed that the Pb-Ca-Sn-Ag alloy is not recommended to make grids for the automotive batteries.
