Abstract

GONZALEZ, Fernán. CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE DIALOGUE BETWEEN HISTORY AND POLITICAL SCIENCE. A CONTRIBUTION FROM RESEARCH EXPERIENCE IN THE CINEP. hist.crit. [online]. 2004, n.27, pp.23-44. ISSN 0121-1617.

In this article I would like to take a retrospective look at some of the CINEP s studies and some of my own work relating to political history during the thirty years in which I have been associated with the institition. I also want to try to clarify for myself and for the reader to what extent most of my own work can be inscribed in the category of political history, since I myself have not very clearly defined my professional identity, although this indefinition is no cause of concern for me, among other things, because I have studied both Political Science and Latin American History and have never worried much about the borderlines that some professionals have drawn between the social sciences. Furthermore, I believe that the combination of the two focuses, diachronic and synchronic, have enriched my analytical perspectives enormously. The same applies to the combination of the concrete approach to the historical reality of Colombian political activity and a reading of it from the viewpoint of theoretical models, usually abstracted from other historical experiences.

Keywords : history; political science; cinep; social sciences; colombian politics.
