Abstract

MACHO MORALES, Elisa Antonia  and  ROSALES ORTEGA, Rocío. Female Entrepreneurship and Social Networks in San Pedro Tultepec de Quiroga, State of Mexico. Cuad. Geogr. Rev. Colomb. Geogr. [online]. 2011, vol.20, n.1, pp.85-101. ISSN 0121-215X.

The article analyzes the role of female entrepreneurship in the organization of the local productive system of San Pedro Tultepec, a locality characterized by furniture manufacturing and by the role of families in the economic and social environment. Although trust is an essential element in the local economic organization, it is unfortunately limited to family relationships. Therefore, it is paradoxical to observe a great entrepreneurial potential among the inhabitants and, at the same time, a great difficulty to extend trust beyond the family structure.

Keywords : entrepreneurship; family; gender; local economic system; social capital; social networks.
