Abstract
DA SILVA SANTOS, Marquilene; ARAUJO DE FREITAS, Gilvonete Maria and FURRIER, Max. Geomorphological Mapping of the Area Corresponding to the Alhandra and Pitimbu Leaves 1:25.000, in the States of Paraíba and Pernambuco (Northeastern Brazil). Cuad. Geogr. Rev. Colomb. Geogr. [online]. 2015, vol.24, n.1, pp.73-86. ISSN 0121-215X. https://doi.org/10.15446/rcdg.v24n1.38974.
In order to carry out the geomorphological mapping of the area encompassed by the Alhandra and Pitimbu Leaves, the taxonomic methodology for relief was adopted. The 1:25.000 scale made it possible to identify six taxa: Pernambuco-Paraíba Sedimentary Basin (1st taxon); Coastal Tableland, Coastal Lowlands and Abiaí Depression (2nd taxon); denudational (tabular, convex and semi-convex) and aggradational (intertidal, marine and fluvial plains; marine and fluvial terraces and colluviums) morphological units (in the 3rd and 4th taxa); rectilinear slopes (5th taxon); and the smallest mappable forms: gullies, folds and faults (6th taxon). The importance of this research project is its possible contribution to environmental planning.
