Abstract

VALLE, Júlio César Augusto. Freire's Curricular Reorientation Movement in São Paulo (1989-1992): Contributions for a Curricular Reflection. Pedagogía y Saberes [online]. 2022, n.56, pp.29-40.  Epub Sep 15, 2022. ISSN 0121-2494.  https://doi.org/10.17227/pys.num56-13122.

The purpose of this text is to present and discuss relevant aspects of the Curriculum Reorientation Movement built by Paulo Freire and his team in São Paulo, from 1989 to 1992, when the educator served as Municipal Secretary of Education for the administration of Mayor Luiza Erundina. Proposing to signal contributions to the curricular reflection -tensions, provocations, and questions-, we briefly present some characteristics of the Movement that gave rise, as we argue, to a popular and democratic critical construction of curricular policy. It concludes by highlighting both, the inversion of the curriculum policy vector and the rescue of the public meaning of the public school as contributions addressed to tension and problematize the way curriculum policies have been conducted.

Keywords : curriculum policy; Paulo Freire; curriculum; public school.
