Abstract

This paper analyzes the principle of transversality and establishes the role it plays in the transformation of the curriculum. It rai ses the complex nature of the meaning of transversality and the importance it has to resize the curriculum from the construction of new forms of organization of the training content. The analysis of transversality is based on authors from the philosophical and sociological fields, describing and interpreting some approaches that are considered relevant for the introduction of the methodological conceptual aspects related to the construction of transversal curricula. It concludes that transversality means the foundation of a new training culture and a new vision of learning-oriented by a social purpose and that its application in the educational field can lead to the production of new, flexible, open, and inclusive training modalities.
